Successful risk management is best achieved when all participants adopt a spirit of responsibility in regard to safety issues. Participants should be aware of and adhere to the following measures:
Prior to Training:

Be aware of the safety policies before undertaking training.

Notify the Facilitator(s) of any pre-existing medical condition or disability (physical, mental, emotional, medical, or health disability or conditions which could be aggravated or worsened by participation) prior to training. For serious conditions a medical clearance must be obtained.

After serious injury or illness, students should not return to begin training until the student has fully recovered. If there is any doubt, a medical clearance must be obtained.

Students must not participate if they have injuries or conditions such as serious cuts or abrasions, rashes, boils or any other contagious condition.

Minor abrasions and cuts must be adequately dressed and covered prior to training.

Remove jewellery, watches and other ornaments prior to training, which may cause injury.

Long hair should be secured.

Fingernails and toenails should be smooth and short.
-
Wear appropriate clothing.
-
Never train under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

During Training:

At all times obey the directions of the Facilitator(s) including the direction to cease training.

Please adopt the principles of Respect, Compassion, Confidentiality and Non-Judgement when training with others

Participants may opt to decline to participate in any activity they feel uncomfortable with, choose one of the available options or provide an option that works for them.

Participants should train at a level they feel comfortable with.

Take care to avoid collisions by being aware of the other participants.

Train only in the specific technique demonstrated by the Facilitator(s).

Report all accidents to the Facilitator(s) immediately. Exercise universal precautions in regard to blood-borne pathogens.

Notify the Facilitator(s) if any medical/emotional condition becomes apparent during training that may affect safety.

Participants should pace themselves according to their level of fitness and competency.

Participants should avoid dehydration and over-exertion.
PLEASE NOTE: Because our trainings are Trauma-Informed, the emotional and physical safety of all our participants is paramount. To ensure that we are able to provide a safe environment for everyone we, as facilitators, reserve the right to ask any participant to take time out from, or leave, the workshop if their actions are deemed to be detrimental to the safety of us, themselves or the other attendees.
